Default Thyroid and adrenals

My first question - can Gemmotherapy kickstart my thyroid back into action? It seems to be very underactive and I also feel probably my adrenals are out of whack too, probably burnt out.

I've been taking kelp and garlic daily for months which has helped some, but not enough.

I got a shock a while ago when I went to tie my hair up before having a bath - there is dramatically less of it than there should be, it's always till recently been very thick.

If Gemmotherapy can help, what ones and what dose please? Any other tips greatly appreciated. I do see a Homeopath on the NHS who refuses to believe me simply because I still have eyebrows! She doesn't know how thin they are though.

Many thanks

Default Thyroid and adrenals

Hi Indigo, thanks for your question. Just on the face of it, I would think of a combination of Ribes nigrum, buds, Quercus pedunculata, buds and Betula pubescens, catkins, for these things. That should have an effect. It would be best to get some supervision though and not be self-prescribing. I would certainly keep your homeopath in the loop as a constitutional approach is also going to be necessary.

The standard dosage would be one drop of remedy per kg of bodyweight per day, divided between the three remedies, all on an empty stomach between meals. So say if you weigh 60kg, take 20 drops of Ribes before breakfast, 20 drops of Querc ped buds mid morning and 20 drops of Bet pub catkins in the afternoon (not later, because it might interfere with your sleep). You could do this for a month and then see how you are - but ask your homeopath if it's OK first.

Thank you so much for your response Nick When I can download that book I'll look for more info on each of those remedies.

I'll certainly let my Homeopath know. I suspect she doesn't know about gemmotherapy or I imagine she'd have mentioned it before now. She does sometimes recommend a herbal thing or Bach or supplements, so she's not rigidly Homeopathic. She is going to retake my case at our next appointment so hopefully she'll start treating me and not who she thinks I am and hopefully she will finally realise I know my body.

Hi Nick,

Wondering why Cornus Sanguinea was not in your suggestion to Indigo for thyroid? The book states "best known for treating the thyroid". Your explanation of why you suggested the gemmos you did would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default Cornus sanguinea

Dear Mother

Cornus sanguinea is an important remedy for hyperthyroidism and goitres associated with this, but not for underfunction of the thyroid gland. The other remedies I mentioned are best indicated for hypothyroidism. Actually, Cornus sanguinea is most famous as a remedy for threatened heart attack, or the acute consequences of a heart attack, because of its draining and regulating action on the heart, the blood and the arteries.

Thanks Nick,

I had read "Hypo or Hyperthyroidism is helped by the use of Cornus Sanguinea at a dose of 1 to 5 drops twice per day. This particular gemmotherapy helps to detox and strengthen the thyroid gland." (animal info)

As for Indigo.....I just read that EFA deficiency is involved with hair loss....

Good day!

It could be Dr Steve's experience, but I must say I haven't come across this indication for Cornus sanguinea anywhere else... Hopefully we can get some confirmation at some point, that is how the materia medica moves forward.

ah, this is getting interesting. Thank you both Any additional input greatly appreciated.

Since I asked, I have become more convinced that I am also suffering from adrenal burn-out or whatever you like to call it.

and..... I had a craniosacral session with a new lady who asked if I have Fibromyalgia/ME/CFS. I had to admit that I think I do. I'd hoped I was wrong, but apparently I'm not. I'm still trying to work out how best to help myself and in my reading so far, it seems adrenal fatigue/burn-out can cause/contribute to CFS etc.?

My Homeopath appointment is next Friday so any info I can take to that would be a great help.
